Gibraltar International Airport kicks off our list of most dangerous airports for two reasons. One, either end of the runway ends in the sea, which means overshooting a landing or taking too long to take off can mean a wet end to your flight. Two, this airport is the only airport in the world with a major highway cutting through the middle of the runway. Before planes can land or takeoff, foot and other traffic on the highway has to be stopped.
Fortunately, Gibraltar International Airport is not an incredibly busy airport, handling only about 30 flights per week, all flying to and from the United Kingdom. British Airways, American Airlines, and US Airways fly into this airport regularly.
